The Legend of Liu Xiu(Emperor Guangwu) was composed and spread in the Luohe River and its surrounding areas in Yiyang County, with the Temple of Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty as its core. According to"Guangwu Temple Records" in the old "Yiyang County Annals II":"Ninety miles west of Yiyang County, there is a town named "Three Villages" (old Yiyang County), administered by Fuchang in the Tang Dynasty. In the northwest of the country, amid towering mountains and ancient green cypress, the temple of Emperor Guangwu is located. In the third year of Jianwu period (25-56), Guangwu defeated the Red Eyebrow Army here. When Emperor Ming acceded to the throne, he ordered the temple be set up. There is no record of this in the past dynasties. "In order to commemorate this important event, Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty built this royal temple, Temple of Emperor Guangwu, on the top of the Han Mountain, which still stands on the Han Mountain in Yiyang County, surviving different dynasties. Many historical sites in Yiyang County are related to Liu Xiu, including Ximei Spring(Eyebrow-Cleaning), Red Eyebrow Village Wangmang village and Liuxiugou Village, laying the foundation for the inheritance of the Legend of Liu Xiu. Apart from legends about Liu Xiu, including characters, events and allusions, there are also many place names related to Liu Xiu in Yiyang County. The representatives are: The Legend of Wang Mang Chasing Liu Xiu, The Tilting Well, Cliff for Walking the Horse, The Origin of Wangmang Village, The Origin of Liuxiu Village and The Legend of Liuxiu Chair.
