转枝柏的传说

转枝柏，又称晋柏，相传为潘安栽种，已有1700多年树龄。因它的主枝分为东南西北四主枝，且只有一枝翠绿，当地又有“转柏枝”传说。吉利所处古称河阳，南临黄河，有古都洛阳的北大门之称。西晋文学家潘安在河阳任县令时，清正廉明，深得人心，造福一方，以花息讼，倡导民户广植桃李，造成了“金谷满园树，河阳一县花”之势，又有满地桃李掷迎谣车之说。据传，转枝柏为其亲手栽植，当地人民为了纪念他对当地的丰功伟绩，对其所植翠柏也很爱戴。又因此柏长得奇特，据当地老人说它一甲子（60年）一转，即四个主枝按一甲子轮换生长，所以得名“转枝柏”。当地人们围绕它的传说渐多，说它通人性，因思念主公，把腰探弯了，且一枝翠绿向东南，转枝一说流传久远。转枝柏的传说体现出河洛人民对自然的崇尚、对先贤文化的崇尚之情。

Zhuanzhibai, also known as Jinbai, a kind of cypress, was planted over 1700 years ago by Pan An(247-300), one of the most handsome men in ancient times. Jinbai has four main branches in four directions, while there is only one luminous green branch, so there is also the legend of "Zhuanbaizhi"in the local area. When Pan An, a litterateur of the Western Jin Dynasty(265-316), served as the county magistrate in Heyang, he was upright and honest, benefited the locals and won the hearts of them. Legend has it that the Zhuanzhibai was planted by Pan An himself. In order to commemorate his great achievements, the locals loved the cypress very much. The cypress is very special. According to an elder local, the cypress rotated its main branches every 60 years, that is, the four main branches grew in rotation every 60 years, so it was named"Zhuanzhibai. With time going by, there are more and more legends about the cypress. Someone says the cypress can perceive human emotions. As the cypress missed its master too much, its waist had bent down. The legends of Zhuanbaizhi reflects Heluo people' s worship of nature and respect of the culture of their ancestors.
