古都洛阳盛产二百余种合香所用香料，所产麝香更有“药之香魂”之称。考籍究源，自古河洛地区香药炮制韵味自成风格，又经丝绸之路贯彻印藏，中西香文化汇集融合，加之洛阳道教发展的悠久历史赐予道教合香的神秘内涵，自汉唐以来河洛道教合香都是文人骚客的馈赠佳品，历代朝贡珍品。正是由于洛阳独特的地理位置和悠久古代历史上的特殊地位，浓厚的历史文化的底蕴，构成了药香这一传统手工艺。
