象庄郭氏中医针灸起源于清朝光绪年间，创始人郭锦堂在潜心攻读《针灸甲乙经》、《针灸大成》等针灸医书的基础上，到处拜访针灸名师，博采众长，广开思路。采用“巨刺法”（即左病针右，右病针左）为群众治病，以言传身教的形式，父传子、子传孙，代代相传，使祖传针法日臻精湛，从第三代郭中和开始，他在长期临床实践中摸索出了针灸结合中草药治疗中风、肝炎、不孕不育和阑尾炎等疑难杂症。

郭氏中医针灸经过历代传人的实践，形成了系统的技术理论和补泻手法：针药并用、内外同治；刺罐结合、活血化瘀；局部和远端取穴相结合。以及捻旋补泻法、提插补泻法、呼吸补泻法、开阖补泻法、迎随补泻法等5种补泻法。
