“三弦铰子书”是流行于汝阳乃至豫西山区较早的一种传统民间曲艺表现形式。据老艺人秦德成叙述:祖父秦天成(清道光年间人)之前一辈老艺人们就在铁炉营敬起了“三皇社”,并说书祭神。由此可见,在17世纪中叶这里已有人说唱“三弦铰子书”了。

刘守钦(清朝时期的“童生”)曾在私塾教书,后弃教从艺,带着儿子刘维忠四处奔波,说书度生。民国时期孙玉章也开始跟随爷爷、父亲学习“三弦铰子书”。民国十二年刘氏父子独立书班,此时,该书班已在豫西享有盛誉,并被称谓“豫西四大柱子”之一(即嵩县的高小娥;宜阳的冯匡照、耿振枝;汝阳的刘守钦)。

建国后,刘玉章先后任汝阳县曲协会长、主任等职,1958年汝阳县成立曲艺队,任队长兼教练。“文革”开始,曲艺队解散,他回乡继续从事民间曲艺演出活动。他在曲艺队期间曾传授韩秋亭、常玉琴、杨巧、刘盘、等人学唱“三弦铰子书”。回乡后又传授刘孝良、王效章、刘水利、等人。他为汝阳培养了一批又一批“三弦铰子书”新秀。并代表汝阳县参加洛阳地区、河南省曲艺汇演,多次获奖,为汝阳的曲艺事业发展做出了很大贡献。

随着电视的普及,以及农村体制改革,曲艺演出市场逐渐萎缩,时至二十世纪八十年代中期刘氏书班日渐衰落。

现在汝阳县能够从事“三弦铰子书”演唱的艺人只有王效章一人,2007年开始进行的非物质文化遗产普查,才又激活这一古老的民间曲艺。2014年得到省级专项资金的扶持,不断开展传习活动,传承人已发展到10个人,使得这项濒危的曲艺项目有序传承与发展。

"Sanxian Jiaozi Shu", a kind of Chinese traditional folk telling and singing art with Sanxian, Chinese three-string lute, and Jiaozi, small cymbals, as musical instruments, is popular in Ruyang County and western mountainous area of Henan Province. According to the old artist Qin Decheng, before his grandfather Qin Tiancheng (born in the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, 1821 AD-1850 AD), there were people worshipping "Sanhuang Temple" in Tieluying Village by performing Sanxian Jiaozi Shu. After the founding of the People's Republic of China(October 1st, 1949 AD), Liu Yuzhang has taught Han Qiuting, Chang Yuqin, Yang Qiao, Liu Pan, Cao Quan, Duan Jiaozhi, Duan die and others to learn to sing "Sanxian Shu" After he went back to his hometown, he taught Liu Xiaoliang ,Wang Xiaozhang, Liu Shuishui, Wen san'e, Liu Ling, Liu Jianpeng, the art of "Sanxian Shu". His apprentice had participated in many performances of folk telling and singing in Luoyang area and Henan Province on behalf of Ruyang County and won awards for many times, making great contributions to the development of the art of Ruyang County's folk telling and singing. In 2014, with the support of the provincial special fund, we have carried out the teaching activities continuously, and the number of inheritors has reached 10, which makes this endangered folk art inherit and develop orderly.
