李氏彩塑,从李公讳创立,传到李明甫已有十九代,到今有400余年。

Colored sculpture is a traditional folk plastic art in China, which uses clay as the raw material and is made into shapes, plain or colored, by hand. The shapes are mainly of figures and animals. The art of colored sculpture has once flourished in Luoyang history, reaching its peak in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. A head of clay sculpture with a residual height of 25cm was unearthed at the Yongning Temple Pagoda site in the Northern Wei Dynasty in Luoyang . According to the proportion, it is estimated to be a vertical statue, with a total height of about 3m. This remnant is one of the precious cultural relics preserved in Luoyang. From Li Gonghui to his descendent Li Mingfu, colored sculpture of the Li s family has gone through more than 400 years. On the basis of inheriting the traditional color sculpture technology of his ancestors, Li Mingfu made bold innovations and developed in many directions. He boldly tried new materials(such as ceramics, matches, etc. to further develop the colored sculpture technology.
